Going abroad

Partir à l'étranger

Professional opportunity, lifestyle change, extended holiday, expatriation or relocation... You're going to live abroad and need a secure place to store your furniture and belongings? MondialBox® is the solution to your storage needs so you can leave with peace of mind.

Our self-storage unit rental service includes long-term car storage to meet all your needs. What's more, our outdoor storage units are extremely hard-wearing and watertight. Unlike traditional indoor storage units, you'll have access to your storage unit 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Some of our centres offer an indoor solution to guarantee you easy access to your storage unit and simplified loading thanks to the equipment provided. Depending on what you need to store during your trip abroad, our storage units come in a variety of sizes. Our largest storage unit is the 28m2 box, which can store the furniture of a 150 m² house.

Expatriation: are my belongings safe in a storage unit?

All our storage units are made of steel and are renowned for their ability to keep items safe, even in extreme conditions. What's more, all our storage centres are equipped with a high-security system with video surveillance and a continuously active alarm system. Your storage space is private and secured by a unique code that is sent to you when you sign your rental contract. Expatriation or relocation often means having to leave with only the essentials, without being able to take your largest possessions with you. Most of the time, expatriates live in a pre-furnished home that already includes everything they need (fridge, microwave, washing machine, etc.). And for financial reasons, it is often not possible to send all your furniture to your future home abroad. That's why MondialBox® offers different sizes of self-storage units for rent.

What items can I put in a storage unit when I go abroad?

Going abroad means having to leave most of your furniture behind to buy it all back. You may want to retrieve all your belongings when you return, so selling them is not an ideal option, nor is leaving them with friends and family. With MondialBox®, you can rent the storage space you need without having your belongings scattered all over the place.

Here is a non-exhaustive list of things you can store in a storage unit:

  • Your furniture (sofa, dining room table, chair, coffee table, bookcase, desk, large wardrobes, etc.)
  • All your household appliances (dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, oven, freezer, etc.)
  • Decorative items (pictures, large wardrobes, chandeliers, etc.)
  • Your bedding (duvet cover, mattress, slatted base, etc.)
  • Your clothes (summer or winter)
  • All your transport and leisure vehicles (car, scooter, bike, motorbike, boat)

Not sure which unit to rent for your belongings? We've set up a unit size simulator that you can find on our website. And don't hesitate to ask for advice at the storage centre you've chosen: our advisors will use their expertise to help you choose the right storage unit.

Prepare for your departure abroad with our self-storage service

The best solution for avoiding having to part with your belongings forever is to rent a furniture storage unit with MondialBox®.

Moreover, preparing your move to a new country will allow you to:

  • Avoid having to manage a sublet before and during your trip.
  • Avoid giving your loved ones the responsibility of taking care of your belongings during your time abroad.
  • The cost of storing your furniture in a storage unit will not be a surprise. In fact, it will be easier for you to budget a monthly amount for unit rental than to have to deal with months of unpaid rent.
  • When you return from your trip, you'll be able to find your belongings more quickly.

Self-service storage by MondialBox®

At MondialBox, we like to keep things simple and easy. If your time abroad is shorter or longer than expected, you can adapt the duration of your storage unit rental. There's no time commitment when you sign! All you need to do is give us 15 days' notice, and as you're abroad, you can send it to us by e-mail.

Insurance coverage of up to €2,500 is included in our prices, but you have the option of increasing this amount depending on the value of the goods stored. Most of the time, a simple phone call to your insurer is all it takes to extend your home insurance policy to include the items stored in your unit. Don't hesitate to ask for a quote for a storage unit or to contact us by telephone.
